Dishonest and Incompetent SolicitorThis law firm has embezzled my money, lied to me, cost me over 500000 pounds in unecessary inheritance tax, fought against me (their own client), and destroyed irreplaceable family heirlooms. The solicitor that heads their probate department, Revd. John Michael Loftus, claims to have over 30 years experience in inheritance, probate, and tax law. But the combination of his incompetance and dishonesty is mind boggling. He is a dangerous predator, seeking out the old and infirm, offering a cheap Will writing service as a loss-leader to get the lucrative "probate industry" business later. He then structures the Will as a trust for sale, a lawyer's trick to allow the executors to ignore the deceased wishes, and do whatever they want. Then he writes himself into the Will as an executor. He tells his victims that they can trust him because he is a vicar. He even gives out coupons for a free Will written by Norton Peskett while he is wearing his vicar's uniform in church. He cares only about his own profits, and is very willing, even enthusiastic, to destroy lives in order to maximize his profits. He tells his victims how much he loves them, and that they can trust him. Then, when his victims realize what he has done, and it is too late to stop him, he taunts them, telling them how stupid they were to trust him. The words "love" and "trust" now make me physically sick after 6 years of fighting this monster

John Loftus of Norton Peskett refuses to have his name removed from Grant of Probate
John Loftus of Norton Peskett was administering my mother's estate jointly with myself. We were both named on the Grant of Probate. On several occasions I caught Mr. Loftus keeping interest payments and stock dividends for his firm or himself. At first I accepted his story that it was a guenuine mistake, but it kept on happening. Eventually I had to fire his firm and take on the administration myself. But then he got really nasty: He refused to be removed from the Grant of Probate. I am now effectively blocked from administering the estate because banks, building societies, stock brokers, unit trusts, etc. all require that all executors named on the Grant sign all instructions, withdrawl slips, etc. I cannot do anything because Mr. Loftus refuses to sign these documents, and refuses to have his name taken off the Grant. I hired another firm of solicitors to litigate this and spent almost 20,000 pounds in fees and other costs, but Norton Peskett fights me every step of the way. I just cannot get rid of him. I have paid all fees due to Norton Peskett, they have no reason to do this to me except just to hurt me and cause as much trouble as possible for me. It is just vicious and vidictive. They know exactly how to game the system. No matter what I try they win. They seem to take great pleasure in hurting me just for the fun of doing so.

Digusting Law Firm
I bought my home through Howards Estate Agents. They told me that I should use Norton Peskett Solicitors to handle the conveyancing. Indeed, I think it is fair to say that they pressured me into using Norton Peskett. The solicitor handling the matter, Lena Vicente, told me that all the required legal searches had been made, and that they were no problems: I would get clear title to the house. Then about a month after I moved in I got a letter from another firm of solicitors representing my next door neighbours. They claimed that because my neighbours had been using part of my garden for many years before I bought the land I would have to turn over about two-thirds of my garden to my neighbours, and that I would not get any money for that land! At first I thought it was a joke, I had never heard of such a thing. But as the months went by this nightmare became very real. I asked Norton Peskett why they had not caught this problem. Their response was meaningless drivel: Just fancy legal words and gobbledygook. I asked Norton Peskett what they would do to help me: They said that they would be happy to represent me at a rate £200 per hour for their time. I said that since they caused the problem it was only fair that they absorb the cost of fixing it. But they refused to give me any help for free. I have now paid them over £15,000 and still they failed to save my land. The court gave my land to my neighbour, and I will never get any compensation. To add insult to injury, I even had to pay my neighbour's costs that they incurred in stealing my land. As for Norton Peskett, they have made a handsome profit for their incompetence. But I wonder, was it just incompetence, or did they plan it to work out this way all along? I have since learned that Howards have a very cosy relationship with Norton Peskett, they send each other a lot of business.
